A Tour of Augur Bay Empty A Tour of Augur Bay

The WELCOME Pamphlet Says wrote:Welcome to Augur Bay, the Foggy City! Set amid old forests and small farms, Augur Bay is the small city for you. With a population of 259,000, this sparkling gem has a lot to offer. Good schools, the cleanest water in the state, a weekly farmer's market, and a bustling music scene make this the perfect town for young professionals, artists, and students alike.

The beautiful bay borders to the east. Try bluefish fishing or whale watching in season! Rocky beaches made for amazing tidepooling, but try Graham's Beach if you crave the sandy experience. To the south east is Hiram National Park, where hiking trails and nearly urban camping provide views of the city, sea, and hilly countryside. Bird watching and wild life watching are favorites. The city expands to the west and north, with our fresh and local farms beyond that. A local favorite are  Elliot Blueberries; try them at Alice's, best pie in the county.

The city itself has several areas relating to the 147 years of expansion. The docks are still functional, but the seafront also boasts an excellent restaurant scene and is home to the Seafarer's Museum. Along with the docks, the Old City has some of the finest houses in town. Just further inland is East Bay University, well known for its history and electrical engineering departments. New students take note: cheaper living arrangements can be found around the EBU grounds and could be a better investment than dormitory housing! Don't let the streets fool you, as our city is safer than ever and bursting with even more life. The Old Round Movie Theatre is here, along with the Mezzo Mundo Arcade and Police Station. The center of town has the International Conference Plaza, perhaps best known for its annual ParanormalCon. The town hall is also here, as well as the Public Library. Even further inland, the residential boroughs of Swoop and Fell provide excellent local flavor. Neighboring and good natured rivals, be prepared for the chilli cook off every fall. The competition is fierce and delicious! In between these areas is the Augur Bay Community Center, a building catered to taking care of our residents. Try one of Mia's cooking classes, or learn to swim in our very nearly Olympic sized pool!

Many joke that our city is 'strange', with our many party days and festivals, strange customs and unusual weather, but ignore what you've heard. Augur Bay is in no way different from any other city, except that it's perfect for you!!!

Think of Augur Bay as a small city somewhere in between Portland, Panwee, and Beach City. It's diverse, it's got an ageing population, it's full of weirdos. Bonkers stuff happens there, but not always in a creepy way. Most of the time stuff is strange or amiable. The Uni helps keep the place alive, but it doesn't have the best ranking, and has a laughable but present paranormal investigation department.

Crime is fairly low, though your standard 'worrying' crimes are higher. Pet disappearances, a slightly higher than normal amount of run-aways, lights in the sky keeping the neighbors up... You know, the abnormal. There are higher amount of nice things, too. The mathletes of AB High Swoop have won state 8 years running. There are reports of found pets, messages in bottles, spontaneous remission of cancers.. The area has a sizeable cult following for this reason.

As always, if you think there is something that the city needs to suit you, let us know. It's almost certainly always been there.

Further development can be found in this forum, here, or from the main page under "World Building".
